Traducción comentada de los cuentos "Goodbye Bear", "I Love You With All My Heart" y "With Your Paw in Mine", de Jane Chapman Ramírez Moreno, María El presente Trabajo de Fin de Máster (TFM) consta de la propuesta y el análisis traductológico de las obras literarias infantiles Goodbye Bear, I Love You With all my Heart y With Your Paw in Mine, de la escritora Jane Chapman. Se trata de tres obras literarias que carecen de traducción al español y que narran historias sobre temas recurrentes a través de la personificación de animales con un trasfondo ético y moral dirigidas a un público infantil. En este trabajo, se introduce el género al que pertenece la obra, se realiza la traducción y, asimismo, se analizan los problemas de traducción, clasificados según la división que realizó Nord (2012, 183-187) en lingüísticos, culturales y pragmáticos. Por último, se elabora una conclusión en la que se recopila una reflexión acerca de la elaboración del trabajo y se adjuntan las ilustraciones en los anexos. Palabras clave: literatura infantil; animales; propuesta de traducción; álbum ilustrado; Jane Chapman.; This Master’s Degree Final Project (MDFP) consists of a translation proposal and a translation-oriented text analysis of the children’s picture books Goodbye Bear, I Love You With all my Heart and With Your Paw in Mine, written by Jane Chapman. They are three literary works that have never been translated into Spanish before. They tell stories to child readers about recurring themes through personified animals with an ethical and moral backdrop. In this project, I will introduce the genre to which Chapman’s works belong, I will translate the three texts, and I will analyze the translation problems encountered, classified into linguistic, cultural, and pragmatic, according to Nord’s division (2012, 183-187). Finally, a conclusion will be drawn in which a reflection on the elaboration of the work will be compiled. The texts’ illustrations can be found in the annexes. Explorando el género literario de terror: Análisis del género y traducción parcial de la obra American Elsewhere Vega Martínez, Alejandro Esta investigación surge de la necesidad de explorar el género de la literatura de terror, así como sus traducciones, para comprender cómo se genera la emoción del miedo desde diversas perspectivas: neurológica, sociológica, psicológica, biológica y filosófica. Para comenzar, se llevará a cabo un análisis del género para intentar comprender por qué se denomina “horror”, concluyendo con la necesidad de diferenciar entre los géneros de terror y horror. El “terror” se asocia más con la intensificación de la emoción del miedo, mientras que el “horror” tiene un carácter más carnal y visceral. Una vez establecida esta distinción, se procederá a clasificar los subgéneros según los resultados de nuestras investigaciones, basándonos en clasificaciones y conceptos teóricos previos de autores como Prohászková (2012), Scovell (2017), Jeff VanderMeer (2008) y Lovecraft (1927), entre otros. Posteriormente, se seleccionará un fragmento aún no traducido al español de la obra American Elsewhere para identificar posibles elementos característicos y patrones recurrentes en las novelas de literatura de terror, concluyendo con la justificación y análisis de su traducción. La investigación se llevará a cabo mediante un enfoque cualitativo e interpretativo, utilizando análisis documental y observación participante. Finalmente, se presentarán las conclusiones basadas en el resultado del trabajo obtenido, partiendo del conocimiento adquirido durante el proceso. Palabras clave: terror, miedo, horror, género literario, subgéneros de terror, traducción.; This research is driven by the need to explore the literary genre of horror and its translations to understand how the emotion of fear is generated from various perspectives: neurological, sociological, psychological, biological, and philosophical. To begin, an analysis of the genre will be conducted to understand why it is called “horror,” concluding with the necessity to differentiate between the genres of terror and horror. Terror is more associated with the intensification of the emotion of fear, while horror has a more carnal and visceral connotation. Once this distinction is established, subgenres will be classified according to the results of our investigations, based on previous classifications and theoretical concepts from authors such as Prohászková (2012), Scovell (2017), Jeff VanderMeer (2008), and Lovecraft (1927), among others. Subsequently, an untranslated excerpt from the work American Elsewhere will be selected to identify possible characteristic elements and recurring patterns in horror literature novels, concluding with the justification and analysis of its translation. The research will be conducted using a qualitative and interpretative approach, employing documentary analysis and participant observation. This dissertation explores the techniques used to translate the narrative assets in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, a critically acclaimed installment in the iconic franchise. By analyzing some of the elements, including voiceovers, quests, and character names, this study examines the choices made to translate the different components of the video game, and whether the techniques being used result in a tendency towards a foreignizing or domesticating method. The dissertation begins with an introduction that outlines the objectives and structure, followed by a theoretical foundations section, which presents various concepts related to the field. Subsequently, the corpus and methodology section detail the research approach, and the analysis section examines specific translation examples. Finally, the work concludes with a discussion of the findings and a list of references. This work aims to contribute to the relatively scarce body of research on video game translation, providing insights into the translation techniques and the overall method. Al analizar algunos de los elementos, incluidos los doblajes, misiones y nombres de personajes, este estudio examina las elecciones hechas para traducir los diferentes componentes del videojuego y si las técnicas utilizadas resultan en una tendencia hacia un método de extranjerización o domesticación. El trabajo comienza con una introducción que describe los objetivos y la estructura, seguida de una sección de fundamentos teóricos, presentando varios conceptos relacionados con el campo. A continuación, el capítulo de corpus y metodología detalla el enfoque de la investigación y la sección de análisis examina algunos ejemplos específicos de traducción. Subtitulación inclusiva: análisis de la quinesia en la subtitulación para personas sordas o con discapacidad auditiva en producciones LGBTQ+ Carrasco Ponce, Mariano En este Trabajo Fin de Máster, se analizan dos obras audiovisuales representativas del mundo LGBTQ+: la película Pride (2014) y la serie AJ and the Queen (2020). El estudio se centra en el uso y la adaptación del lenguaje característico del colectivo LGBTQ+, incluyendo el camp talk y el gayspeak, así como la feminización del lenguaje, la ironía y el sarcasmo, elementos distintivos de esta forma de comunicación. El objetivo principal es examinar cómo estas características lingüísticas y no verbales se han transferido en las versiones subtituladas para personas sordas o con discapacidad auditiva y para la audiencia española. Se presta especial atención a la fidelidad y efectividad de la subtitulación en la representación de la identidad y diversidad del colectivo LGBTQ+, asegurando que la riqueza y complejidad del lenguaje original se mantengan en la traducción. Además, se analiza la transferencia de las onomatopeyas y omisiones, características comunes en los subtítulos, y su impacto en la comprensión del contenido por parte de la audiencia. También se destaca la importancia de las referencias culturales en estas producciones, considerando cómo su correcta adaptación puede facilitar una conexión emocional más profunda y una mejor comprensión de la narrativa por parte de la audiencia sorda o con discapacidad auditiva. A través de este análisis, se pretende proporcionar una visión integral de los desafíos y estrategias en la subtitulación inclusiva, destacando la necesidad de preservar la autenticidad cultural y lingüística en la traducción audiovisual para garantizar una experiencia de visualización completa y enriquecedora para todos los espectadores. The study focuses on the use and adaptation of the characteristic language of the LGBTQ+ community, including camp talk and gayspeak, as well as the feminization of language, irony, and sarcasm, which are distinctive features of this form of communication. The primary objective is to examine how these linguistic and non-verbal characteristics have been transferred in the subtitled versions for deaf and heard-of-hearing individuals and for the Spanish-speaking audience. Special attention is given to the fidelity and effectiveness of the subtitles in representing the identity and diversity of the LGBTQ+ community, ensuring that the richness and complexity of the original language are maintained in the translation. Additionally, the thesis analyses the transfer of onomatopoeias and omissions, which are common features in subtitles, and their impact on the audience’s understanding of the content. The importance of cultural references in these productions is also emphasized,considering how their proper adaptation can facilitate a deeper emotional connection and a better understanding of the narrative for the deaf or hard-of-hearing audience. Through this analysis, the thesis aims to provide a comprehensive view of the challenges and strategies in inclusive subtitling, highlighting the need to preserve cultural and linguistic authenticity in audiovisual translation to ensure a complete and enriching viewing experience for all audiences.
