The aim of this thesis is to determine the effectiveness of implementing a new educational programme based on self-care recommendations for people with venous, arterial, and diabetic foot ulcers, and to measure their quality of life. The knowledge and prevalence of recurrent wounds among patients of the Clinical Wound Unit (UCF) were assessed, and self-care recommendations were identified and prioritised. An educational programme was developed using leaflets that organised the recommendations according to relevance, and the Wound-QoL-17 scale was translated, adapted, and validated into Catalan. The results indicate that the implementation of the new educational programme helps improve patient knowledge, and the psychometric parameters of the Catalan version of the Wound-QoL-17 scale show that it is valid, reliable, sensitive, and feasible.

Introduction: Chronic pain, fatigue and insomnia are classic symptoms of fibromyalgia (FM) and chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS)&#13;
and seriously affect quality of life. Nutrition and chronobiology are often overlooked in multicomponent approach despite their&#13;
potential. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a multidisciplinary group intervention based on nutrition, chronobiology,&#13;
and physical exercise in the improvement of lifestyle and quality of life in FM and CFS.&#13;
Methods: Mixed-methods study based on a randomized clinical trial and qualitative analysis with a descriptive phenomenological&#13;
approach. The study will be conducted in primary care in Catalonia. The control group will follow the usual clinical practice and&#13;
the intervention group the usual practice plus the studied intervention (12 hours over 4 days). The intervention based on nutrition,&#13;
chronobiology and physical exercise will be designed considering participants’ opinions as collected in 4 focus groups. To&#13;
evaluate effectiveness, EuroQol-5D, multidimensional fatigue inventory, VAS pain, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, erMEDAS-17,&#13;
biological rhythms interview of assessment in neuropsychiatry, REGICOR-Short, FIQR and Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale&#13;
questionnaires will be collected at baseline, and at 1, 3, 6, and 12 months post-intervention. Food intake, body composition,&#13;
resistance and, strength will also be evaluated. The effect size will be calculated using Cohen d and logistic regression models will&#13;
be used to quantify the impact of the intervention by adjusting for different variables.&#13;
Discussion: It expected that the intervention will improve the patients’ quality of life, fatigue, pain and insomnia, as well as food&#13;
and physical exercise habits, providing effectiveness evidence of a new therapy in addressing these syndromes in Primary Heath&#13;
Care. Improvements in the quality of life will have a positive socioeconomic impact by reducing health expenditure on recurrent&#13;
medical consultation, medication, complementary medical tests, etc and favor the maintenance of an active working life and&#13;
productivity.

Cardiovascular disease risk factors begin in childhood and track into adulthood, increasing the possibility of impaired cardiometabolic health. Adopting healthy dietary patterns can help curb childhood obesity, a worrisome epidemic problem at present. In the era of personalized nutrition, dietary recommendations should be adapted to different stages of life, including children (older than 3 y) and adolescents. In this study, we present an updated version of the Mediterranean Lifestyle Pyramid addressed to children and adolescents, which may be used as a prevention tool by health professionals, teachers, and stakeholders. This pyramid arises from a consensus position between participants in an International Congress on Mediterranean diet held in Barcelona. During this meeting, after reviewing all literature published, a consensus was reached on the new Mediterranean Lifestyle Pyramid for kids including details such as labels of the pyramid, position of foods, servings, type of foods, and healthy lifestyle habits. All components of the pyramid are supported by the most recent scientifically sound research and are based upon top-level evidence in nutritional sciences. Fruit, vegetables, legumes, nuts, wholegrains, and extra-virgin olive oil continue to be at the basis of the pyramid, but the importance of an adequate intake of fish, dairy products, and meat during these particular ages, when body and brain development occurs, is also considered. The promotion of physical activity, adequate sleep, and good emotional health are emphasized, as well as the consumption of seasonal and local products, and overall sustainability. Improving dietary habits in early stages of life should increase health in adulthood and reduce future incidence of noncommunicable chronic diseases. The Mediterranean diet and its graphic representation in the Lifestyle Pyramid should be a health-fostering tool not only for adults and children but also for the entire planet because it promotes the diversity of species, respect for the earth, and the local economy.

<description>Risk Factors for Eating Disorders in University Students: The RUNEAT Study
Eguren García, Imanol; Sumalla-Cano, Sandra; Conde González, Sandra; Vila-Martí, Anna; Briones Urbano, Mercedes; Martínez-Díaz, Raquel; Elío, Iñaki
The purpose of the study is to assess the risk of developing general eating disorders&#13;
(ED), anorexia nervosa (AN), and bulimia nervosa (BN), as well as to examine the effects of gender,&#13;
academic year, place of residence, faculty, and diet quality on that risk. Over two academic years,&#13;
129 first- and fourth-year Uneatlántico students were included in an observational descriptive study.&#13;
The self-administered tests SCOFF, EAT-26, and BITE were used to determine the participants’ risk&#13;
of developing ED. The degree of adherence to the Mediterranean diet (MD) was used to evaluate&#13;
the quality of the diet. Data were collected at the beginning (T1) and at the end (T2) of the academic&#13;
year. The main results were that at T1, 34.9% of participants were at risk of developing general ED,&#13;
AN 3.9%, and BN 16.3%. At T2, these percentages were 37.2%, 14.7%, and 8.5%, respectively. At T2,&#13;
the frequency of general ED in the female group was 2.5 times higher (OR: 2.55, 95% CI: 1.22–5.32,&#13;
p = 0.012). The low-moderate adherence to the MD students’ group was 0.92 times less frequent&#13;
than general ED at T2 (OR: 0.921, 95%CI: 0.385–2.20, p &lt; 0.001). The most significant risk factor for&#13;
developing ED is being a female in the first year of university. Moreover, it appears that the likelihood&#13;
of developing ED generally increases during the academic year.
