This final degree project will present a Production Control System of a modular machine called Smart4i Demonstrator intended for the Interpack 2017 Fair in Düsseldorf. This project talks about the possibilities of Industry 4.0 and Internet of Things and shows how can we control all different devices with just one system. This demonstrator is structured in twelve different modules, which are created by different teams of different universities. Thus, the main objective is to evaluate and realize this Production Control System able to communicate with the different modules using OPC UA communication protocol. These modules use a standard technique for controlling packaging machinery called PackML. The system will be able to communicate with the cloud and process the different orders of the customers; from the data acquisition until the finished product. The products are personalized powerbanks, which means that the machine is producing a batch size 1, unique and unrepeatable. The results of the project are better than expected considering that the first objective was to simulate all modules instead of having them in real. The Interpack 2017 fair was a great success and we achieved the principle objective. The demonstrator was running 8h a day for seven days with the most important modules and we could handle all the errors that emerged.
