- Introduction.
One of the most common injuries in the world of sport is the affectation of the
anterior cruciate ligament, which is located at the knee joint level. Pain and
instability of the joint aret he main symptoms that we can find in the injury.
Personality characteristics, such as kinesiophobia, which involves suffering and
excessive and irrational fear, due to a feeling of fear in order to suffer from high
pain or a new injury, with physical and mental consequences, that it’s possible
they have an important influence when it comes to rehabilitating this injury.
Other concepts related to kinesiophobia, such as catastrophism and anxiety, I
am going to keep in mind.
With this study I would like to know the importance of the appearance, or not, of
these personality characteristics due to an injury, into the physiotherapy
treatment of this injury.
- Methods.
It will consist of the evaluation of 60 participants with informed consent between
20 and 30 years who recently have had and injury in the anterior cruciate
ligament. All the participants will complete the same training program, and the
results will be compared according to whether the patient tests positive or not.
These results will be evaluated at 2, 7, 12 and 24 weeks, reviewing the results of
dependent variables such as strength, stability, range of moviment, pain, quality
of life and the recovery time. Once I have the results, I could compare if these
personality factors can directly or indirectly influence the rehabilitation of a
musculoskeletal injury.
Also different ethical aspects will be analyzed to the realization of the treatments,
as well as prior informed consent and the confidentiality of the participants will be
maintained with the publication of the results.
- Discussion.
I will compare the results obtained with the bibliography founded on this specific
topic. These results will help us to do a better performance in dealing with a
possible treatment. We can have another tool to improve the person's state. So,
it will help us bring a more holistic and integrating vision in the health world.
