Aproximació a la violència en la parella: els homes també són víctimes

Abstract

Avui en dia la violència contra la parella és un tema de gran interès i repercussió. No obstant, es dóna molt d’èmfasi en l’àmbit físic deixant en un segon pla el maltractament psicològic malgrat les greus conseqüències que comporta. Un altre error freqüent és el fet d’associar els termes agressor i víctima a l’home i a la dona respectivament, quan realment els homes també són maltractats per la seva parella. Per tant, s’ha decidit dividir el treball en dos estudis. En l’estudi 1, l’objectiu primordial ha estat conèixer la visió de la societat respecte la violència en la parella enfocant l’interès e indagant concretament en les creences sobre el maltractament psicològic i la violència cap a l’home. Per aconseguir aquest objectiu, s’ha creat un qüestionari sobre violència que ha estat respòs per un total de 203 subjectes. D’altra banda, l’objectiu principal de l’estudi 2, ha estat mostrar o donar a conèixer que els homes també són víctimes, analitzant en profunditat el cas d’un home que verbalitza que ha patit violència per part de la seva ex parella. Respecte l’estudi 1, els resultats han mostrat que la societat considera més greu el maltractament psicològic tot i que normalment el físic sembli tenir més repercussió, i també, que es coneixen casos d’homes maltractats encara que aquests siguin escassos. Així mateix, en relació als resultats de l’estudi 2, s’ha arribat a la conclusió que en el cas dels homes víctimes de violència, el maltractament psicològic hi és molt més present que el físic, i que pot comportar conseqüències iguals de severes amb l’agreujant de la poca comprensió social i legal respecte el tema.

Nowadays violence within couples is a topic of great interest but also one of great concern/considerable impact. Greater importance seems to be placed on the physical aspect of the offence whilst assigning a much less significant role to the psychological abuse despite the serious consequences that both have in common. A further frequent error is that men and women are readily labelled with the terms ‘aggressor’ and ‘victim’ respectively, dismissing the fact that men are also abused within the relationship. As a result of this it was determined that this study should be clearly divided into two parts; In part one the primary objective has been to reflect society’s view of violence within couples, focussing on and investigating both the interest shown and the beliefs held with regards to the psychological abuse and physical violence directed at men. In order to achieve this goal it has created a questionnaire which was answered by a total of two hundred and three subjects. In part two the principal aim has been to begin to show that men are also victims of abuse, highlighting the fact through an in-depth study of a gentleman who conveys the extent of the violence to which he has been subjected by his partner. With regards to part one, it can be concluded that society does indeed consider psychological abuse to be very serious although physical abuse still appears to cause the greater impact of the two. The public is aware of cases of abuse against males although such cases are considerably scarce. Likewise, with regards to the results of part two, it can be concluded that in the case of male victims, psychological abuse, as opposed to physical violence plays a much greater role in the relationship; something which can undoubtedly imply either similar or even more severe consequences.
