La representación social negativa sobre las drogodependencias y sus repercusiones en el ámbito social y familiar

Abstract

El presente trabajo tiene dos objetivos: por un lado, indagar sobre la representación social existente hacia el colectivo de personas que tienen problemas de adicción, y por otro lado, sobre las repercusiones a nivel social y familiar que tiene esta representación. Esta investigación está basada en la idea de que la carga negativa de la representación hacia drogodependientes supone una clara limitación a la hora de que estas personas puedan reinsertarse en la sociedad, además de que afecta directamente a familiares de usuarios drogodependientes. Se ha escogido un diseño no experimental de estudio de casos, dónde se han realizado en primer lugar, grupos de discusión con personas que se encuentran en proceso de rehabilitación por problemas de adicción, y en segundo lugar, entrevistas a familias de usuarios drogodependientes. Los resultados confirman las hipótesis iniciales demostrando que actualmente existe una imagen negativa hacia este colectivo de personas y que este hecho impide su reinserción a la sociedad, así como afecta a sus familiares.

This paper has two objectives: firstly, to inquire into the existing social representation to the group of people with addiction problems, and secondly, on the impact on social and family level that has this representation. This research is based on the idea that the negative charge of the representation to drug addicts is a clear limitation when these people want to reintegrate into society, and it directly affects families of dependent drug users. We have chosen a non-experimental design studies, where there have been first focus groups with people who are undergoing rehabilitation for substance abuse problems, and secondly, interviews with families of dependent drug users. The results confirm the initial hypothesis demonstrating that there is a negative image towards this group of people and that this impedes their reintegration into society and affects their families.
