Anar a viure a la residència: El procés d'adaptació de la gent gran. Una mirada des dels professionals, les famílies i la gent gran

Abstract

El present treball se centra en el procés d'adaptació de la gent gran a la residència, per tant, és objecte d'estudi el procés d'adaptació a partir dels elements que intervenen en aquest. Aquesta investigació no s'ha dut a terme en una residència en concret, sinó que centra la recerca en el procés d'adaptació com a situació a investigar. La primera part està constituïda per un marc teòric que permet extreure les idees principals que serviran per dur a terme la part pràctica de la recerca, la qual ha consistit en la realització d'entrevistes. Així doncs, es realitza una aproximació al cas en qüestió a partir d'entrevistes, on es dona a conèixer la visió dels diferents perfils implicats en el procés d'adaptació, els professionals de l'àmbit residencial, les famílies dels residents i la mateixa gent gran. Un cop analitzades les dades es pot observar que hi ha diversos elements que intervenen, com són el motiu d'ingrés, la presa decisió, les relacionals socials que s'estableixen dins l'àmbit residencial, l'estat de salut de la persona, entre d'altres, que segons de quina manera es donin poden afavorir o no al procés d'adaptació de la persona gran.

The present work has its main focus on observing the process of adaptation of the elderly people in to the nursing home. This research has not been carried out in a specific retirement home, mainly because its focus lies on the adjustment process as a situation to be investigated. The first part of this current study has a theoretical framework that allows the extraction of the main ideas that will be useful for the practical part of this investigation. Based on the interviews, an approach to the case was made. Through those, the vision of several profiles that were involved in the adaptation process was studied: the nursing home professionals, the senior citizens, and their families. Once data has been analyzed, it can be seen that there are various elements involved during the process of adaptation of the elderly to the nursing home. Such as the reason for admission, the decision-making process, the several social relationships established in the residential setting, and the state of health of the person, among others, which, depending on how they are offered, may or may not favor the process of adaptation of the elderly person.
