Background: This study evaluates the effectiveness and adherence to the bariatric surgery program at the Althaia Foundation, focusing on sustained weight loss and improvement of associated comorbidities in patients with morbid obesity. Objectives: The aim was to determine the percentage of patients who achieved significant and sustained weight loss at two years post-surgery, the percentage who reached a BMI below 30, improvements in comorbidities, medication reduction or discontinuation, and adherence to the care program. Methods: Data from patients operated on between 2017 and 2019 were analysed. Weight loss and improvement in comorbidities such as type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and obstructive sleep apnea syndrome were evaluated. Results: A notable reduction in the percentage of lost excess weight was observed, with an average of 78.9%. Additionally, 83.3% of patients managed to maintain above 60% of the lost excess weight, indicating adequate and sustained weight loss at two years post-bariatric surgery. Conclusions: These results support the effectiveness of the Althaia Foundation's bariatric surgery program in addressing morbid obesity and its complications.es
