Introducing English through Rhymes and Body Movements in Early Childhood Education

Abstract

The main objective of this final year project was to create nursery rhymes and relate them to body movements to introduce English to very young learners. Teachers can use these rhymes to give children a moment of introductory exposure to English based on enjoyment and fun. The musicality, rhythm, repetition and physical movements will capture the children's attention and make this resource accomplish its objective of experimenting and playing with the language. The four rhymes with their specific movements, the didactic guide and the small blog in the project are designed for teachers who want to introduce the English language playfully.

L'objectiu principal d'aquest treball de fi de curs és crear rimes infantils i relacionar-les amb els moviments corporals per introduir l'anglès als infants d’educació infantil. Els i les mestres poden utilitzar aquestes rimes com a recurs per oferir als infants un moment d'exposició introductòria a l'anglès, basada en el gaudi i la diversió. La musicalitat, el ritme, la repetició i els moviments físics són els elements que captaran l'atenció dels nens i nenes i faran que aquest recurs assoleixi el seu objectiu d’experimentar i jugar amb el llenguatge. Les quatre rimes amb els seus moviments relacionats, la guia didàctica i el petit bloc que hi ha al projecte estan pensats per a docents que volen introduir lúdicament la llengua anglesa.
