Applying the theory of multiple intelligences in teaching english at infant education

Abstract

L’objectiu d’aquesta recerca és analitzar l’aplicació de la Teoria de les Intel•ligències Múltiples desenvolupada per Howard Gardner (1983) en l’ensenyament de l’anglès a Educació Infantil com a llengua estrangera. L’Estudi se centra en l’escola guillem de Mont-rodon, situada a la localitat de Vic. L’adquisició de vocabulari és clau en l’aprenentatge d’una llengua estrangera i hi ha moltes formes diferents d’impartir aquest ensenyament. Els nous temps requereixen noves estratègies educatives i la teoria de les iM ofereix una nova via d’actuació. Vull analitzar com es pot aplicar aquesta teoria per a l’ensenyament de l’anglès, quines metodologies, estratègies i activitats es fan servir, quins resultats s’aconsegueixen així com també establir les dificultats i/o deficiències de la seva aplicació. Vull proporcionar un mètode útil per a altres mestres per tal de fer un ensenyament més personalitzat en el qual es tinguin en compte les diferents intel•ligències presents dins l’aula entenent que no tots els infants aprenen de la mateixa manera.

The objective of this research is to analyze the application of the Theory of Multiple Intelligences developed by Howard Gardner (1983) in the teaching of English as a foreign language in Infant Education. The study focuses on Guillem de Mont-rodon school, located in Vic. The acquisition of vocabulary is crucial in the learning of a foreign language and there are many different ways of giving this teaching. New times require new strategies and the Theory of Multiple Intelligences offers a new way of acting. I want to analyze how we can apply this theory to the English teaching, what methodologies, strategies and activities are used, what results are achieved as well as establish the difficulties and / or the deficiencies in its application. I want to provide a useful method for other teachers to make a more personalized education in which we take into account the different intelligences present in the classroom understanding that not all children learn in the same way.
