Lab 0_6 is a learning space aimed for children from 0 to 6 years old, where researchers gather information about children’s autonomous learning and logical capabilities. The main aim of this project is to design and implement a system to monitor the interaction of the children with a gears’ strategy-based game in order to gather behavioral data. The data extracted for its posterior evaluation will be used to identify children’s capabilities and analyze behavior patterns. The end result is a prototype with a working platform ready to be tested with users, that satisfies all the requirements set in the initial proposal and incorporates new features. In the development of the device’s prototype special emphasis has been put on the robustness and intuitiveness of both hardware and software. Therefore, the device able to be used by children to play safely, and controlled with only two buttons unreachable for children. Moreover, the graphical user interface is simple and clean with a broad display area, this structure greatly facilitates posterior data analysis and classification. On the other hand, the applications are structured in packages to improve code readability and understanding for future improvements and additions.
