Traducció del testament de Vickie Lynn Marshall

Abstract

L’objectiu d’aquest treball és aconseguir una traducció de caire jurídic i una anàlisi traductològica satisfactòria argumentant de forma acadèmica tots els aspectes relacionats amb la tasca de la traducció; i deixar constància de tots els coneixements adquirits durant el grau per poder traduir un document d’aquestes característiques. El text escollit és el testament de l’actriu nord-americana Vickie Lynn Marshall que morí el 2007 a Califòrnia. Atès que el testament escollit es regeix segons la legislació d’aquest estat nord-americà i el Common Law dels Estats Units i a Catalunya els testaments es basen segons el dret civil català, exposaré en el treball les diferències i característiques més rellevants de cada sistema jurídic respecte als testaments i la seva legislació. Arran de la traducció exposo en el treball un comentari traductològic sobre els aspectes més rellevants del procés de la traducció; exemples per il·lustrar diferents problemes traductològics i les solucions o estratègies que he utilitzat i un llistat terminològic de trenta paraules de vocabulari específic del text original realitzat amb el programa Multiterm.

The aim of this paper is to accomplish a legal translation and a satisfactory translational analysis, detail all the aspects related to the task of translation; and to highlight all knowledge acquired during the Degree that has been employed to translate a document of this type. The chosen document is the last will of the American actress Vickie Lynn Marshall who died in 2007 in California. The will was drafted according to the legislation of the California estate and the Common Law of the United States; whereas in Catalonia the legislation governing wills is based on the Civil Law. I will highlight the most important differences and relevant characteristics of each legal system with respect to wills and the legislation behind them. My paper includes: an analysis dealing with the most relevant aspects of the translation process; examples to illustrate different translational problems and the solutions or strategies that I have used, and a list of thirty words of specific vocabulary from the original text made with the Multiterm software program.
