Traducción poética y exilio: F. M. Delgado Gurriarán

Abstract

Este trabajo constituye un acercamiento a la obra traducida de Florencio Delgado Gurriarán, autor al que en este año se le dedica el Día das Letras Galegas. Para ello, partimos de un corpus formado por los trece poemas que tradujo del francés al gallego y que resultaron premiados en el año 1946 por la Federación de Sociedades Gallegas de Argentina (junto con los de Plácido Castro y Lois Tobío), publicados tres años más tarde por la editorial Alborada en Buenos Aires como Poesía inglesa e francesa vertida ao galego. Tras estudiar en detalle los aspectos más relevantes de la vida y la obra del autor, que se revelan indisociados, ya no solo entre sí, sino también de su obra traducida, inventariamos todas las traducciones de Florencio delgado Gurriarán. A continuación, examinamos las traducciones guiados por un modelo de análisis combinado de las propuestas de Peter Newmark (1992), Katarina Reiss (2002) y David Connolly (2004), así como con las técnicas de traducción definidas por Lucía Molina y Amparo Hurtado (2002). Por último, presentamos los rasgos más relevantes de su selección y traducción y señalamos el diálogo que mantiene con la vida y la obra de Gurriarán, poniéndose de manifiesto tanto la calidad de las traducciones realizadas en el exilio por este, como su importancia en el marco de la posguerra para la revitalización de la lengua gallega y la del sistema literario galaico.

This work is an approach to the translated work of Florencio Delgado Gurriarán, the author to whom the Día das Letras Galegas is dedicated this year. We start from a corpus composed of thirteen poems he translated from French into Galician, awarded in 1946 by the Federation of Galician Societies of Argentina (together with Plácido Castro and Lois Tobío), published three years later in Buenos Aires as Poesía inglesa e francesa vertida ao galego. After studying in detail the most relevant aspects of the author's life and work, which are revealed to be inseparable from each other but also from his translated work, we inventoried all the translations of Delgado Gurriarán. We then examine the translations guided by a model of analysis combining the proposals of Peter Newmark (1992), Katarina Reiss (2002) and David Connolly (2004), as well as the translation techniques defined by Lucía Molina and Amparo Hurtado (2002). Finally, we present the most relevant features of his selection and translation and point out the dialogue it maintains with Gurriarán's life and work, highlighting both the quality of the translations he made in exile and his importance in the post-war period for the revitalisation of the Galician language and the Galician literary system.
